EYES WIDE OPEN - THE HUMAN COST OF WAR

A NATIONAL GUARD MEMORIAL

WHEN: Sunday & Monday, March 11 & 12, 2007, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.

WHERE: NAU Field House, Kaibab Room (accessible to those with handicaps)

WHAT: A nationally touring exhibit of the human cost of war, developed by the AFSC, is in Flagstaff for two days. Military boots and civilian shoes represent those killed in the Iraq War.

This exhibit displays over 400 pairs of combat boots labeled with the names of National Guard soldiers who died in the current Iraq war. Approximately 50 civilian shoes, representing the 50:1 ratio of Iraqi civilian deaths to US military deaths, are labeled with the names and ages of Iraqi civilians who died since the beginning of this war. In addition, the names of all soldiers from Arizona who have died in Iraq will be listed, unless otherwise requested by family members.

This is an opportunity for Flagstaff and surrounding communities to honor and memorialize those who have died in this conflict.

COST: Free and open to the public. Donations to defray costs are welcome.
